Swirls & Pearls

Over at Winter Wonderland the theme this week is Pearls & Swirls and here is my entry. They haven't started the Christmas themes yet and I can't wait for when they do. I'm getting quite a collection of wedding cards now. This image is from Stamping Bella and I use it quite a lot. The image is coloured with Promarkers. I've added pearls around the image and some pearls hearts to the top side of the card. Added a swirl and roses.

Flowers and Ribbons

I'd been asked to make a card for someone from Blue's work friends. So I set myself the challenge. The card is for a special grandma. I've used a digi image from my stash and coloured it with my pro markers. I fell in love with the background paper and set work on combinig it with the image and embellishments. I love using ribbons and flowers on my cards and have a massive stash especially ribbons. I've doubled up the ribbon using a moss green and a lilac organza ribbon tying it into a bow. The flowers I've also had hidden away, I added some gems to the middle to give it a bit of sparkle. Hope you can see from photo I have very poor lighting in the evenings but couldn't wait until daylight to show you all. I used the same background paper inside the card too. Hope you like.

Pirate Card

Well it was Harleys Birthday the other week and I'm finally getting round to posting his card I made him onto the blog. I decided to make him a pirate card being as we live by the beaches. The image is from Squiggles. I love their images. I coloured him using my pro markers some new from christmas. It took me a while to decide how to plan out the card and it whilst whist sorting through old card stock having a clear out I found scraps of card I was going to throw and instead recycled the coloured card onto Harley's card, using yellow for sand, ripping the blue for the sea. I also found some brown and green and made a palm tree using the ripping effect again on the leaves. I hope you like.

Happy Retirement

My partner officially took early retirement last Monday and yesterday evening we met up with his two sons and all his grandchildren for a meal. It was really lovely. This is the card I made for him. The image is from Bugaboo and the image is Gus - Over The Hill. I coloured him with Promarkers and used glossy accents on his specs. Added ribbon, tool embellishments, and a sentiment. He did laugh when he saw the card and took it good spirit.

Harley's Cake & Card

I have been a bit busy over the las couple of evenings making my grandsons cake and card. He will be 5 and I can hardly believe it. Where does the time go? He has become Mario crazy, so that is the theme for his cake and card.

Here's a quick post for a challenge. This time it's Creative Inspirations and the theme is With Thanks. I don't think enough people send thank you cards anymore. It's all text, Skype and the good old dog and bone. Am I being a bit old fashioned??? It's nice to receive a thank you card as you know that person has made the effort for you. Perhaps I should remember that next time I receive some gifts. LOL!! In any case I love making them anyway and here is my entry for this challenge.

I've used a Magnolia image and coloured with PM and added a bit of glitter to her wings. Background paper is from a Funky Hands CD and the felt flowers and butterfly are from the good old £1 shop

My lovely partner Terry retired from work today after working for over thirty years for a local authority, of which ten years has been working away from home and travelling thousands of miles on motorways, he can finally put his feet up...(cough cough) not so likely!!!! In the New Year he'll have plenty of jobs to do. I've yet to give him my list but finally we can have a 'normal' live together. Anything But A Christmas Card

Well this is not a card but another book turned into a Christmas Tree so I hope this qualifies. This is the last tree I had left over from all that I sold at the Christmas crafts fairs this year. I found that I actually preferred the larger funky bows but people still love the smaller bows that are traditional colours which are the ones that sell first. Anything Goes - But Still Another Christmas Card

My long term partner doesn't do Christmas much - well that's not really true - he loves it really, it's just all the family and kids get in his way. He would much prefer to sit quietly, in front of the TV. Last year he was very poorly, suffering a lot after an op and so didn't enjoy Christmas at all, so this year he is looking forward to it. I've collected a few items for him with the theme of 'Bah Humbug' as a joke - there's a black Christmas hat and napkins with Bah Humbug on and a black bauble on the Christmas tree that simply says 'dont do Christmas' and so when I saw this free download image from Dude Time Doodles, I just couldn't resist carrying on with the joke. I hope he's not looking!

I've coloured the image with Promarkers and the background paper is from my new Steampunk CD.

Here is a white on white card. I was inspired by Bev's (DT) card at Creative Craft Challenge where she had only used shades of grey on her snowman and thought I'd give it a try. I've used two different embossing folders, used fluffly wool around the edges, Promarkers to colour the snowman and stickles to finish.

A First For A Steampunk Theme

I've been feeling the need for quite some time to try a little 'steampunk' themed cards, so whilst I was at a recent craft fair I was inspired by the lady next to me ( Helen) who was into steampunk and made fab photo frames and jewellery and it set me off. So as it was her birthday on the Monday I decided to try out my first 'steampunk' card, and here it is:

I hope she liked it. I swopped a Christmas Tree Book for some vintage watch faces, springs, cogs etc with her and now I dont want to use them....lol - got stacks of paper because I dont want to use them - well they are all my favourites! So inspired by this I bought a CD full of images, backing paper etc so expect to see some more of this theme. I'm entering this card into the following challenge:

Cute Card Thursday - Sketch

I Love Promarkers - Anything Goes

Over at I Love Promarkers the theme this week is Anything Goes which basically mean you're spoilt for choice! Hmm so what should I do for this one and I decided to stick with the Forever Friends Cosy Christmas Collections as I was in the mood for colouring.I tried putting little dots on the blue scarf to make it look like it had been knitted. I think it works. Add a couple of snowflakes with gems in the centre, MS border and a little piece of organza ribbon to given it a bit of sky feeling.

Sarah Hurley Challenge - Buttons

So hopping around this afternoon I came across Sarah Hurley Challenge and the theme is buttons. This year I've made lots of cards with a button Christmas tree so I thought it may suit the theme nicely!

I've cut a triangle shape for the main tree and covered it with some strips of pages from an old book and then used Mod Podge to give glitter and to seal it. Then I had fun adding the buttons. Cut a length of card for the trunk, added a star and there you have it!

So the christmas tree is made from an old unwanted book which I have given it a coat of Mod Podge sparkle but the photo doesn't show it but it's brilliant stuff and can't stop using it. For my DT card this week I have chosen from The Stamping Boutique 'Audrey The Chef '. I've chosen non traditional colours and a slight twist by adding an old fashion receipe for Rich Christmas Pudding which I found on the internet and made a recipe card. Keeping with the colour theme I also stamped a few holly leaves and coloured them pink and added pearls for the berries. Faux white stitching along the edge and a glittered TH swirl.

For my card I found buried in the bottom of a drawer a stamp with lots of buttons which I used as a border and double layered and glittered some of them. Hello, it's been a busy week here trying to catch up with cards, books, flowers and Christmas Tree books ready for my next batch of craft fayre's. I have my grandsons this weekend, so not much crafting going on here, however I thought I'd post these Christmas tree books that I'm making this year. I usually use about 190 - 200 pages on an average size book and l've decorated the edges with a little glitter glue, buttons and bows. The older books look very Victorian. House Mouse - Christmas Sparkle

Now I know I said in my previous posting that I wasn't ready for Autumn challenges yet but I'm certainly into Christmas season already. It seems to get earlier and earlier especially for us crafters! Here I have used one of my fav images from House Mouse called Perfect Harmony. I've coloured this with water colour pencils, glittered the edges, the snow and the candle flame. The background paper is fab. It has glittered dots all over it and really sparkles but my photo is rubbish. Added a large bow, red square gems and glossy accents to the berry's. Over at C.R.A.F.T the theme is 'Bright Colours' and I'm so glad as I'm not ready to let go of summer yet or ready for autumn themes that are around at the moment, although I'm sure by the weekend I will be. It's been a beautiful day here in Dorset although very breezy. I'm getting a bit worried about my neighbours tree, seems to be lots of it in my garden. Oh well guess what we are doing the weekend! Slight lack of posting and commenting I'm afraid because at the craft fair Sunday I had a very successful day and need to catch up with some more concertina books and cards. Even my knitting is being neglected but I have promised myself a couple of hours knit knatting on Saturday evening, if my grandsons go to bed early enough...............not!!!

So onto my card. This is the first time I've used this image. It's from Wild Rose Studio and called Toby and Butterfly. I've cut him out and decoupage his ear, coloured with Promarkers and glossy accents to his nose. I created the little background that he is mounted on and decoupaged the butterfly as well. PBSC Week 171 Down On The Farm

This is a funny image, I can think of many people I could send this image to. At PBSC the theme is Down On The Farm. It was very hard to choose an image for this challenge because you can image we have lots of 'Kow' images but I know somebody who wants a 50th so I chose this one for the laugh. Coloured with Promarkers and a little stickles glitter added to the flames for a bit of sparkle. I used the end of the wooden coffee stirrers for the rickety picket fence and a few added hand punched flowers. Hope you like it. Jeanette

Colour Inspiration & A Teddy Bear

Over at C.R.A.F.T. the theme this week is 'Inspiration Picture' and here is is. Now with my card I thought I'd take the colours from this but I'm not sure I've achieved what I had set out to do. I think I've got all the colours in my image, which I've coloured with Promarkers but got carried away with the orange, but the sun was shining through the window and I'm sure that was why this turned out to be a bright orangey card. Still hopefully it is acceptable. The image is from Wild Rose Studio and called Mia with Teddy.They are also having a DT/GDT call so pop over if you fancy having a go.

Over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge the theme this week is 'Monochrome' and so I'd thought I'd drag out my fav Halloween image. There are lots of great digi images this year available but this one still makes me smile the most. It's called 'Three Headed Monster', isn't it so cute. Keeping to the theme I've used Promarkers to show a bit of shadowing, added a spider and cobweb charm, die cut the word 'spooky' which I've used the edge of the ink pad just to add a few random lines, I think I was trying to achieve a 'bandaged' look, added a couple of wiggly eyes and a few spiders. St. Ives

Evening Folks, being so inspired from my trip to Cornwall, I was buzzing with ideas for my next craft fair. The little shop that I had mentioned in a previous post, they had some paper bunting and I just had to have a go. I made this bunting from some twine and an old road map. It measures 3 metres and now that it is complete I think the next one I'll make the gaps a little smaller. Hope you like it. Jeanette

Back From Hols - Knitted Cupcake

Well I've returned back from my lovely holiday in St Ives in Cornwall and what a great place to inspire your crafting. Lots of 'Shabby Chic' shops but the shop that inspired me the most was a little shop in Redruth. In this shop there was everything handmade nothing brought in. Chatting to the friendly lady there (sorry didn't think to ask her name - how rude!) she was telling me that there is a group of ladies that all create different things and sell them in the shop and it's brilliant. There's paintings, jewellery, cards, flowers of all kinds, bunting, well just about everything. They've only been opened 3 months so I hope they do well. Anyway just a quickie post - whilst I was in my chillaxing holiday I took to knitting and back enjoying this craft again. You may have seen my little packs of cupcake toppers which sold very well at the craft fairs but some people weren't sure what they were, then it came to me........knit a cupcake and display a topper! Tah dar and here it is! I googled a few patterns, the first one came out like a 'willy warmer' but the second one, after a few tweeks and adding some tinys beads, looks a bit better. Back To School

At last I here you cry - the children are back at school - whoop whoop more crafting time!!! Well I don't have that problem as mine have grown up and flown the nest but I still have to work full time and squeeze in as much crafting as possible. I've currently picked up a V neck sleeveless top that I started knitting about 6 years and have decided I must finally finish it before I start on the boys jumpers. In the meantime I cannot stop paper crafting and tonight I've finished a card with 'school' in mind. This stamp I've had for yonks and never used it before. This image reminds me of my niece. Anyway, coloured with Promarkers I've had apple, pencils, staples & paper clips as embellishments, and cut out a tiny piece paper from a GCSE maths book. I created this card with PBSC in mind and their theme is 'Create a Scene' but I wanted it to tell a story as well and here it is. The two fab PB stamps are 'Snow Joy' and 'Ice Pals', so cute.. The Christmas tree and sentiment is from Forever Friends 'Cosy Christmas' collection and Think Snow was a cheapy from many years ago. I've embossed the snow area with dots, used glitter, snow writer on the images and dotted snow with a gel pen on the sky area. Promakers to colour. Brrr makes feel cold just looking at it. I didn't post much during August as I was busy making cards & books ready for the forthcoming Christmas events. During this time I have had the bug for knitting again and I just finished this little waistcoat for my granddaughter. Now I have done lots of knitting in the past and usually rise to a challenge but this pattern did my head in - I don't know why, it's not exactly difficult but I kept making mistakes mostly on the left front so don't look too closely because after unpicking for the umpteen time I decided enough was enough and this was the best it was gonna get. Been meaning to add these photos for a fews weeks now and only just found time. Myself and Blue went to our friends wedding a few weeks ago. I wanted to make their card to match their colour theme. Here I've used another sqiggle stamps digi image, i'm addicted to them at the moment. This one is called True Love. I used my pro markers to colour the bride and groom, added some glamour dust to brides tiara. I've matted and layered the image using a shiny purple card and silver glittery card which you can not see very well in the photos. The background paper is from papermania. I'ved used stashes of flowers, pearls and ribbon to decorate. I stuck on some shiny gems in the middles for the flowers. I hope you like. Michelle xx

I also decided to make a gift that was more personal too and also matched the colour theme to their wedding and also the card I made. Here is a cd photo book that I made using recycled cd's. I've covered them using papermania paper (cannot remember name of it), all the papers used was from a pack that all matched. I then used the computer to personlise the front with the couples names and wedding date, matted and layered the wording using my nesties. I decorated each page slightly using ribbon, gem hearts and flowers. To make the holes I used my crop-a-dile and eyelets for front and back page. Used a ring to clip the pages together adding some ribbon to match from both card and inside the book. Hope you like. Michelle xx

Cupcake Toppers

Phew, we have been busy, and I have neglected our blog but here we are again. I've been working on some new projects and here is one of them. Cupcake Toppers. These are great fun to make and has given my rubber stamps and sizzix dies a new lease of life. I'm bursting with so many occasions that these can be used for, birthdays, Halloween, bonfire night, Christmas, baby showers, hen nights, baby arrivals, anniversaries and even weddings. Such fun! Nappy Cakes

Lucas Birthday card

Well here I am with my second posting of today. I've been busy tonight making my youngest Lucas's birthday cards as usual I've left it to the last minute. I can't believe my baby is going to be 3yrs old on Thursday. EEK! Time has flown so quickly and he has grown up to be a "Big boy" as his quotes to me on a daily basis. Here to the left is a card I made from his brothers. I googled a Mater image from the film cars which he loves, and used scraps of card to matt and layer the image and card. The paper is from a massive stack I brought whilst pregnant with him. (oops amazing how much you buy and forget about). The brads are from Dovercraft that I picked up in a sale at a craft show sometime ago. I've not put an insert in the card as I know Harley will want to draw him a picture. Now onto the card from mummy and daddy.

Here I've used the same stack of papers I had from Mater card. Lucas likes blue and decided to make him a very blue card. I've used a gatefold card for this one. I picked the number stamp and son stamp at my local shop the range. They were on offer and Lucas keeps telling me he's going to be 3 soon as well as being a big boy now. I stamped the number 3 onto background paper that matches the insert and layered it up using my nesties. I used my pro markers to colour son in. All of the card used was scraps found in my box of stash. The stars I got from hobbycraft again in the sale (love a bargain). The wording on the inside I done using my computer.

Something Different - A Gift

Hello, a quick post as I have to dash off to aqua fit tonight and then on my way back home I can stop in the shop and buy myself some chocolate!!! I have non in the house and I'm climbing the walls. So over at C.R.A.F.T. challenge this week the theme is Gifts. This little container once housed some paper flowers which have long gone but I hung onto it as it was too good to be thrown away. I've filled it with little foam stamps, punched butterflies, small ink pad and a few other goodies and may pop it the table at the next craft fair. I've coloured the image with Promarkers and Polar White Flowersoft on the ear muffs, cuffs and boots. Added a bit of lace along the top and ribbon on the bottom. My first challenge

At last I'm back to the crafting world again after my wedding and getting right into it. I stumbled across a website the other evening looking for a digi image for a wedding believe it or not. After lots of browsing on there I purchased some digi and some freebies too. Such lovely images on there. Whilst there I noticed they have a blog and decided to look for inspiration, when I noticed a challenge and thought why not give it a go to get me started.
The image is called Daisy with a gift from Squiggle stamps. I used my pro markers to colour her and couldn't resist going girlie pink, my nesties to matt and layer her sitting in a circle. Paper, ribbon and snowflakes are from stash I've got.

I'm entering this card into Christmas Creations at Squiggle Stamps.

Oh No Not Christmas In August!

Well this is what I thought might happen, we get so carried away in July with our Christmas cards that it spills over to August!! So here is my first for this month. Digi again, from Pollycrafts, and now I said I would not do digi's but I have to say since searching for different designs for Christmas I am really impressed with the cute characters that there is out there, but I'm not giving up on stamping yet, old fashion girl at heart. This one is called 'Hello Robin' and currently you can purchase for half price and this did make me chuckle. Anyway coloured with Promarkers, added die swirls, snowflakes, pearl stars, pearl dots, glittered and my new 'vintage' lace purchased from a 'proper' vintage craft shop newly opened near me. I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Real & Paper Flowers

My daughter and SIL presented me and Sue with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the help towards their wedding. It was a lovely surprise and I have to say it is one of the best bouquets I've ever received. The sunflowers are stunning. So here is a photo of them.

Aren't they gorgeous.

I've also been playing with making some paper flowers. I saw this on Youtube - great place for learning new skills, anyway just had to have a go, and then found I couldn't stop.

Penny Black Background

Well that's it, 2nd reception done and now I'm all at a loss, nothing to panic about!! So trying to get back into the swing of things, tonight I made a quick card and to be honest I do not like it one bit. There's too much stamping, it's boring and I don't know, it just not how I wanted it to be but hey, I'm posting it anyway. So I'm entering this card into the Penny Back Saturday Challenge which this week the theme is PB Background. I've used Burst of Stars which I've stamped around the edge, a bit too much I just wanted a little border and then stamped the whole flower leaving out the stem and leaves. Added black and red ribbon with a red bow and some little gems in each corner. I'll try a little harder tomorrow and hopefully come up with a card a little less busy and more gentle on the eye. Still that woke you all up!!! Jeanette

Over at CES Challenge the theme is Humour/Funny. This image is so popular and always creates deep conversation about us girls and our favourite biscuits. I've coloured this with Promarkers, added a pearl, swirl, large eyelet, ribbon and bow. Jeanette

My New Cheeky Monkey

Now I dont do digi's very often and I do not associate monkey's with Christmas but when I saw these digi images I just had to have them - they are so cute - so firstly pop over to Polly Craft Shop and view the other images - they really are so adorable. I can think of lots of cheeky children to send these too. So like an over excited child I got out my pens and started colouring. Now I know I am rubbish at colouring, it all looks very flat but I keep on trying, never give up I say. I've coloured the image with Promarkers, added glitter to the star, flower soft 'polar white' on the edge of the boots and hat. Distressed the edge of the dp (I'm rubbish at this too - got the tool - don't know how to use it!) and blue card and added glitter. Stamped a sentiment and that's it - didn't want to add any more. So I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Button Birdie - Less Is More

Not going to be able to do much posting this week as it is Michelle & Blue's second wedding reception this weekend and guess who is making 90 cupcakes and the top tier cake!! I'm busy making seashells, lobsters, crabs, starfish & seahorses in coloured chocolate and icing for the cupcakes. So onto the card which I'm entering into Less is More - Button or Ribbon. My little bird is made from a large button which I've cut a wing from card and drawn the legs, beak and tail. Little bit of ribbon across the card and a little bow and that's it! I really really want to added more but I've been good and stopped! Hope you like it. Jeanette

Seems to be a popular theme this month - I wonder what August will bring.
This is a Penny Black image called Santa Claws (clever huh). I've enhanced the background paper with embellies, added a bow, and a snowflake. Image is coloured by Promarkers and glitter added around the edge of the image and hat. I'm entering this into the following challenges:
